ASIA CALLING

Dear Webreader,

Welcome to ASIA CALLING section of The Global South, a Globalom Media production. This monthly e-journal was launched in March 1999.

ASIA CALLING is purported to be a window on a part of the world that is of strategic importance to the fate of our planet. Not only because only two countries - China and India - account for more than 2 billion people. But also because the region is characterised by persistent poverty among vast sections of the population. It is marked by enormous ethnic diversity.

We invite you to cooperate us in making ASIA CALLING a success. You may also like to visit NORTH AMERICA CALLING EUROPE CALLING and AFRICA CALLING. If you are particularly interested in South Asia, we recommend our sister publication SOUTH ASIAN OUTLOOK.

From 1997 to 2000 he was based in Hong Kong as the newspaper's Asia correspondent. Asia Observer, however, is a hobby  project and not affiliated with Aftenposten. Asia Observer, which was launched on January 1, 2000,  is intended to be of use for journalists, researchers, politicians, students, business people, government officials and others who in their professional or personal capacity try to keep track of the rapid developments in Asia. At TCA, the philosophy is that Central Asia is a global region undergoing parallel changes, sharing many common problems and facing similar challenges. Blended with materials from TCA reporters in Almaty, Ashgabat, Astana, Bishkek, Dushanbe, Tashkent, information is posted 20 hours per day to provide the most updated and sophisticated news on Central Asia to readers.
